Day 37: Destination- Olveiroa, 20km plus some while lost…

Onward to Finisterre (“the end of the earth”)!IMG_3090.JPG

Many mixed emotions leaving Santiago yesterday, stiff body, lots of rain, and lonely for the first time on the Way. Praying, “some fruit
would be really nice right now, Lord” and 3 steps later…IMG_3109.JPG
Repeated the mantra all day, “Thank you, Lord, for the gifts I do not yet know.” This little guy was one such gift that welcomed me at the simple, donativo albergue last night.IMG_3125.JPG

Already feeling that ocean breeze, so close!IMG_3126.JPG

Join me in praying for:
-Piotr’s vocation discernment.
-The state of our Church, that distanced believers be strengthened to recognize the fullness of the Truth.

Day 28: Destination-Hospital de Condesa, 13.6km

Yesterday I passed into Galicia and this morning I walked the first 3.3 km in the rainy haze and rolling pastures that is reminiscent of Ireland. The region of Galicia will take me to Santiago and Finisterre beyond.20140801-072511-26711567.jpgThe past 72 hours have been maintained by “Your will, Your strength, Your will, Your strength…” This mantra carried me through the most difficult and also most rewarding part of my journey. God’s humor is truly remarkable. A few highlights here and stories to come…

20140801-074348-27828262.jpg-Reunited with my initial crew for a day and swam in an ice cold river.
-Wandered through a field of cows looking for a trail I never found and was eventually picked up by Martina and Fernando.
-Discovered hidden treasure in an abandoned Monastery from the 7th century.20140801-080309-28989079.jpg-Lost yet again with no one in sight, I squat to pee and a young man in a tractor crests the hill to save the day–and get a laugh!
-Bareback horse ride on Kuka with the lovely Salvador.20140801-080947-29387709.jpg

Join me in praying for:
-Tom’s discernment of vocation after university.
-Marilyn’s son in his studies and brother who needs a liver transplant
-A young Spanish couple on the Way that drives me crazy…
